Jan - 1 : A function to mark the National Consumer Day was arranged by the District Consumer Welfare Department, Madurai at Govt. Higher Secondary School at Samayanallur. Secretary, C.Packialakshmi, President V.Girija, Jt. Secretary M.Srinivasugi and member Premalatha  of WCPA participated.
     
Jan - 22 : Programme of training for trainers to educate farmers in Consumer Awareness was arranged by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies at Chennai. Secretary, C.Packialakshmi, Jt, Secretary  Srinivasugi, Rakkayi, Sivamani of WCPA underwent the trainer’s training.
     
Feb - 10 : Secretary conducted training class for students of the Citizens Consumer Club of Seetha Lakshmi Girls Higher Secondary School at Thirunagar, Madurai.
     
Feb - 15 : World Obscenity Eradication Day was jointly observed with demonstration and meeting at Madurai by several NGOs. WCPA joined the demo and meeting with the presence of the Secretary.

: Training for a total of 150 farmers from various blocks of Madurai district was imparted at Collector’s office meeting hall. This programme was arranged by the Dist. Supply Officer, Madurai in co-ordination with the Agricultural Dept. Secretary and other trained trainers served as the resource persons.
     
Feb - 28 : Secretary conducted training class for students of the Citizens Consumer Club of Govt. Higher Secondary School at Palamedu.

2) Right to be informed about the quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard and price of goods to protect the consumer against unfair trade practices.
